Yasir G. Hamed, born in 1965, is an educator and global professional services leader whose career reflects a deep commitment to cross-cultural education, experiential learning, and international engagement. He earned his Master’s Degree in Education in 2006 and later completed a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in 2012. In recognition of his academic excellence and dedication to language studies, he was inducted into the Alpha Mu Gamma Honor Society in 2009. Yasir’s career in higher education spans nearly two decades and includes faculty appointments at several respected universities. He served as Instructor of Arabic at Fairfield University from 2006 to 2018, where he was known for his engaging instruction and dedication to helping students develop both linguistic fluency and cultural understanding. His teaching experience also includes roles at Yale University, Southern Connecticut State University, Dartmouth College, Wesleyan University, and the University of New Haven, where he contributed to Arabic language programs and Middle East studies initiatives. From 2008 to 2017, Yasir served as Academic Director at the School for International Training (SIT) in Brattleboro, Vermont. In this leadership capacity, he oversaw academic programming designed to connect students with immersive, globally focused educational experiences. His work emphasized experiential learning, intercultural dialogue, and international perspectives that prepared students for global citizenship. Currently, Yasir serves as Director of Global Professional Services in New Haven, Connecticut, where he leads initiatives aimed at advancing professional development and strengthening international collaboration efforts. Beyond his professional achievements, Yasir is deeply committed to lifelong learning and personal growth. He enjoys reading, playing chess, practicing Tai Chi, and camping—activities that reflect both intellectual curiosity and mindfulness. He has also been involved in supporting cultural initiatives in Connecticut, including engagement with the International Festival of Arts & Ideas in New Haven.
